IMAGE PROCESSING SYSTEMS
All of the following functions can be used as standalone products or can be fully integrated into the ARGUS Integrated Security Management tool.
Video Motion Detection (available 4th quarter 2006)
The Protoclea Video Motion Detection system is an advanced detection device designed for use in extreme environments. It incorporates the following features
Detection: is pixel based resulting in a detection grid of 720x576 for PAL systems or a much higher grid for HDTV cameras. The unique detection algorithm does not average areas but uses sophisticated modelling to detect even the slightest movement.
Process period: The very fast processing capability allows frame rate processing of most processes.
False alarm processing: The Protoclea VMD system possesses a large set of false alarm suppression features, including:
 |
Selective area with individual sensitivities |
 |
Direction, size, speed discrimination |
 |
Camera vibration compensation |
 |
Variable light background compensation |
Smoke Detection (available 3rd quarter 2006)
The Protoclea Smoke Detection system was designed to detect even the smallest wisps of smoke to ensure operators or supervisors are alerted well before a fire gets out of control. Very powerful algorithms enable detection of minimal amounts of smoke to ensure advanced warning can be given in most circumstances.
Object Tracking (available 1st quarter 2007)
The Protoclea Object Tracking algorithm allows objects to be tracked to the point where accurate predictions of the destination can be made. Applications include detection of behaviour, such as loitering or intent to commit a crime. The feature offers security personnel a significant advantage in crime prevention.
Object Behaviour(available 1st quarter 2007)
The Protoclea Object Behaviour system automatically identifies suspicious behaviour. Main settings include identification of people running, objects left unattended for long periods or objects being removed from static positions. Such tools assist rapid response to or proactive prevention of crimes.
Image Stabilisation (available 1st quarter 2007)
Many systems currently use long focal length cameras to achieve visibility over long distances or to cover large areas. Invariably this requires high mounting positions on poles. The result is often an image that vibrates or shakes so much that identification becomes difficult. The stabilisation feature takes any live video and stabilises it, neutralising the effect of shake or vibration and ensuring clear images are available to operators.
Video Enhancement (available 1st quarter 2007)
Images are often distorted by external effects such as atmospheric haze, variation in illumination, low or excessive contrast and the like. Viewing over long distances results in images with poor clarity and distortion due to temperature gradients. The Image Enhancement features of this product overcome many of these problems and sharpen images in real time for better identification. |
