ARGIA: Video Health Monitoring System
Monitoring & Reporting Of Highly Integrated Systems
Argia is a video health monitoring system dedicated to monitoring and reporting on the health of a highly integrated system, using the available communication network.
It requests performance statuses from the subsystems, or it calculates the system status from the available data. It is specifically designed for video subsystems, but can also monitor other network devices.
State-of-the-Art Features
Camera Connectivity
Checking that a camera is still online and available is the most basic feature in Argia. This might simply be for maintenance reasons, but it may also be an indication of unwanted activity.
Camera Position
If a camera position is changed, a notification will appear. Cameras are generally positioned to monitor specific areas, and if this view changes an inspection is required. The change may be due to infrastructure change, or potential criminal activity.
Camera Clarity
If a camera becomes out of focus, a notification will appear.
Camera Frame Rate
While most security camera networks are independent of general network traffic, there are some instances where this cannot be the case. If the network throughput is affected in such a way that it reduces the frame rate of the cameras, a notification will appear.
Camera Lighting Changes
Depending on the cameras used, a sudden change in lighting may completely distort the video available. This raises an alarm and should be verified by a maintenance or security team.
